Agnes Jayne Biography
Agnes Jayne pens her mysteries from her makeshift office in a cabin high in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She has a passion for collecting old stories, legends, and true crimes. Jayne’s current novels, set at the foothills of Appalachia, draw on local stories, legends, superstitions, and criminal cases to weave mysteries that draw readers into the hills and hollers around the fictitious town of Devil’s Creek, West Virginia, whose name was changed to protect the innocents and reveal the guilty. The people of Devil’s Creek are friendly and kind: to a point, but be careful, more than one of these folks has something to hide.
Jayne wrote her first novel, Premonition, under the pen name Agnes Jayne in 2015. She is the founder of a local writing group called The Mountain Scribes in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Her work is featured in two anthologies: Last Writes: Haunting Tales from the Mountain Scribes (2017-2023), and The Appalachian Compilation (2018). She is a member of WV Writers Inc, and the Chesapeake chapter of Sisters in Crime. She lives with her family and several adopted pets, including a terrier with a talent for trouble, a hound dog who knows how to find things, and several cats who are up to no good.
